WELCOME!
Heading off to college and away from home is a period of significant transition for many young adults. Although exciting and new, establishing independence is often accompanied with declines in healthy behaviors, such as less nutritious diets, and less active lifestyles. Today's college student faces unique stressors including increasing student debt, declines in mental health, and dynamic technological changes.
Since 2005, we have aimed to better understand the factors associated with young adult health via the College Health and Nutrition Assessment Survey (CHANAS) project. CHANAS is an applied research project aimed at improving the health and well-being of emerging adults at the University of New Hampshire. Through published research and student-led investigations, we explore the impact of diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors on health outcomes in young college adults 18-24 years of age.
To date, over 11,000 young adults have participated in this unique, ongoing project.
